You've been invited by your friends Gen and Wendy to a friendly get-together at their new apartment, and will be joined by two more of their friends, Lisa and Irene.
The party turns out to be a little dull, and you're wondering what to do next. You're sure it's just the fact that you've had a lot to drink, but you find yourself suggesting a game of poker. Strip poker, you think to yourself as you sip a bit more sake. Looking up, you see the girls looking at you. Suddenly, you realize you said that last thought out loud! Before you can apologize though, Gen speaks up...

Windows
95 or Windows 98
16 MB RAM or more
DirectX (3.0 or later required)
DirectX certified video card with at least 1 MB video RAM
Mouse (required)
Pentium or better (recommended)
Insert the CD ROM into the CD ROM drive and double click on the CD ROM icon. Select the language you want to install (English, French or German) or click on START.HTM to choose it automatically. To install the program onto your hard drive, click "Install Game." Other options are "Play Game," "Uninstall," "Install DirectX v3.0" and "Quit." If you don't have DirectX already installed in your system, you will need to install it using this menu.
After installation, click "Play Game" to start the game application. The screen (above) appears, allowing you to start a new game, alter game options such as speech, music controls and volume, resume a game in progress, or exit the game.
When you start a new game, you will be able to select up to three opponents to play against. Since you can play against up to three opponents at once, you can pick an opponent multiple times if you like -- the variety of games you can enjoy are formidable.
After selecting your opponents, you will go to the main game screen (above). The main game play screen consists of 3 main areas:
1. The main picture, showing who you're looking at (one of your opponents, or yourself)
2. Along the right edge of the screen, the player staus boxes, showing up to three opponents (and yourself), along with various status information, including:
Click on the opponent's portrait to switch to them in the Viewing Area.
3. At the bottom of the screen, the main playing area. This area includes:
The game allows you to play 5 different poker games: 5 Card Draw, Straight Poker, Texas Hold'em, 5 Card Stud and 7 Card Stud. Please see section 3.1 for rules on each game.
Each player starts with $150. At the beginning of every game all players must ante $5, and a maximum of 4 bet/raises per round can be made in total (each from $5 to $25 so the round can cost up to $100). Also, note the CHECK action. If no player has placed a bet for that round you can CHECK instead of betting (it's like passing).
If you run out of money you can sell an article of clothing for another $150, but you don't actually have to discard the clothing unless you lose the hand - in the meantime the player's clothing icon and Viewing Area portrait will be surrounded by a yellow box to show that they owe some clothes if they lose the hand. You can buy back clothing previously sold for $150 each.
Each character has several items of clothing they can sell and the game ends either when you lose all your clothes or all your opponents lose all their clothes. When only one opponent loses all their clothes before the others, they are forced to watch the remainder of the game naked.
5 Cards are dealt face-down to each player. After the deal comes one round of betting. After betting, each player may discard up to 3 cards from their hand for an equal number of fresh cards from the deck. After all players have had a chance to discard, a final round of betting ensues. After betting, the player with the highest ranking poker hand wins the pot.
Two cards are dealt to each player, one face-down and one face-up, followed by a round of betting. Three more cards are dealt one at a time, face-up, to each player, each separated by a round of betting.
Three cards are dealt to each player, two face-down and one face-up, followed by a round of betting. Three more cards are dealt one at a time, face-up, to each player, each separated by a round of betting. The final card is dealt face-down, followed by the final round of betting.
Each player receives two cards face-down, followed by a round of betting. Three community cards are then dealt face-up to the board (to the right of the player's cards), followed by a round of betting. These cards are shared by all players. Finally, a fourth and then a fifth community card is dealt, each followed by betting. The best poker hand wins.
Each player receives five cards face-down. There is one round of betting.
The game supports CD Audio and comes with four tracks. You can control the soundtrack from the Options menu or with the following hot-keys.
Start/Pause

The game also supports several hotkeys for game play:

picking a game, 5 is "Straight Poker"; when picking an
action, 1 is "Fold"; when picking an amount, 3 is "15". In 5
Card Draw, these hotkeys are used to select the cards to
exchange. Remember it will not let you select more than 3
cards.
Below are listed some common issues and solutions. If you encounter a bug or strange occurrence that is not addressed below, please contact us.
NOTE: DirextX can be a source of problems. Always make sure you get the latest DirectX or video card drivers.
This program has not been tested under Windows NT, but should work with no problems. If you have a problem with running the game under NT and your problem is not covered below, please try running the program under Windows 95/98.
If you have a problem that seems to be related to Microsoft's DirectX development environment, try updating your DirectX drivers, which can be obtained from the Microsoft website (http://www.microsoft.com/directx).
If you are having problems with DirectX, please contact Microsoft technical support at:

Q. The game says "insert CD" even though it's in the CD player.
A. The problem is most likely that you've got a CD ROM drive and a CD-R drive, and the game is confused about which drive it should look for the game files on. Try running the game from the other drive, or if possible, turning off the CD-R before launching the game. If you still have problems, contact JAST USA.
Q. Where do I find the latest video drivers for my video card?
A. The simplest way is to contact your manufacturer. However, if have Internet access look at their web page (either available in your hardware documentation or try doing a web search for the manufacturer name at a web search site such as Alta Vista).
Q. I am trying to manually run the install program INST.EXE, how does it work?
A. You can manually run the Hentai Anime Poker install by running "INST /install" from the distribution directory. You can manually uninstall by running "INST /uninstall" from the installed directory.
Q. Every time I get to a certain part in the game, the program freezes or locks up.
A. Download the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft's website (http://www.microsoft.com/directx). This also may include more recent drivers for your video card. If this does not help, try getting the latest drivers for your video card. If you still have problems, JAST USA's contact information is at the end of the file.
Q. The game runs really slow.
A. Terminate all other applications, especially those that use a lot of memory or processor time.
Q. The game is hard! How can I beat the girls?
A. Lots of practice. Try playing against only one girl at a time to help your odds.
Q. There appears to be a problem with the graphics in the game (for example, the cursor has a white box around it). What should I do?
A. This is a DirectDraw problem, most likely with the video drivers for your video card. Always try getting the latest drivers (contact the manufacturer or look at their web site) before looking to Microsoft.
Q. Why don't I hear any sound effects?
A. If you do not hear sound effects, then either you have a problem with your audio system or the volume is too low (set master or Wave volume in the sound mixer that comes with Windows).
This is not a DirectSound problem because if DirectSound fails the game will use the regular sound functions built into windows (which works but has higher latency and only allows one sound effect to be played at a time).
Check the volume in Windows, the volume of your speakers, and check to see if you get sound in other windows programs. Also make sure no other programs are open that are using your soundcard.
Q. The game failed with some obscure error message. What does it mean?
A. The game does catch some weird errors and if a strange error occurs it will give an error message that is useful to debugging. Either something obvious is wrong (like corrupt files or another DirectX application is running) or you may need to contact us for help. Here are possible problems and some of the messages related to them.
SetColorKey
failed
DDCreatePalette error
SetCooperativeLevel Fail
SetDisplayMode fail
... (and similar errors)
These are general DirectX errors. Sometimes restarting Windows and immediately running the game again (before anything else) may work. Also try getting the latest video drivers for your video card from the manufacturer.
Could
not create ...
... Out Of Memory
Not enough memory...
... (and similar errors)
You do not have enough memory (RAM) available on your system (and possibly you may not have enough RAM available on your video card). Make sure you have a video card with at least 1 Mbyte of memory and 16 Mbytes of main RAM. Shut down as many other applications as you can (and maybe try restarting Windows).
Hardware and HEL do not support...
This error indicates that there is a required graphical function not supported by either your video hardware or emulated by the drivers. Try getting the latest drivers and if that doesn't help try contacting the manufacturer.
Error
reading ...
Error opening ...
Load bitmap error
Error locking resource
Unknown object type
Duplicately defined resource
Missing ...
Error selecting cursor
Invalid animation frame
... (and similar errors)
These types of errors indicate that at least one data file for the game is missing or corrupt. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.
